The General of the United States Air Force, Patrick Ryder, announced today at the Pentagon that the Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile will be tested today.
The launch of the Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile will be carried out from the Vandenberg Space Force base in California.
“It is a routine test”, General Ryder added, stressing that it is about the operational test launch of the intercontinental ballistic missile.
Otherwise, the trial test of this intercontinental ballistic missile was supposed to be held in early August – but the Biden administration has postponed it to avoid escalating the situation with China, which was conducting military exercises around Taiwan.
The Minuteman III is a fuel-propelled intercontinental ballistic missile that can carry 3 to 6 MK-12A nuclear warheads.
The maximum radius of action is 13 thousand kilometers. Each operational missile carries a nuclear warhead under the arms control agreement between the US and Russia.
It is produced by Boeing and has dimensions: 18.2 meters long.
