British intelligence officers released a statement this morning on the state of the war in Ukraine.
Today’s topic in the short communique was Ukraine’s counter-offensive in the south of the country, which has been happening for the last few days without much information.
“As of August 29, 2022, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are conducting offensive operations in southern Ukraine.
One element of this offensive is a continuous advance on a broad front west of the Dnieper River, focusing on three axes within Russian-occupied territory. Kherson region”, the British write.
“The operation has limited immediate objectives, but Ukrainian forces are likely to have achieved a tactical degree of surprise, taking advantage of weak logistics, administration and leadership in the Russian armed forces.”
“As fighting also continues in the Donbass and Kharkiv sectors, a key decision for Russian commanders in the coming days will be where to direct any operational reserve forces they may establish,” the British wrote.
Otherwise, Ukraine has continued with actions to liberate cities occupied by Russian forces, which begin the occupation on February 24.
