The Mexican Navy has seized a large amount of cocaine after successfully ending a chase at sea.
The Mexican Navy’s operation began after receiving information about the shipment of cocaine, after which it sent forces to a transit route about 320 nautical kilometers southwest of Puerto Chiapas.
The region is located at the northern end of the major Eastern Pacific transit corridor, known for transporting cocaine from Colombia.
In the video of the action, the patrol vessel ARM Chiapas is seen in pursuit of the suspicious boat, while the navy helicopter provides support. Navy team members descended from the helicopter onto the boat and grabbed it.
Eight people were arrested and 1,700 kg of cocaine were found in the raft, which will be destroyed.
The value of the drug is estimated at 24 million dollars, but if the cocaine had arrived on American soil, its value would be twice as high.
