Slovenians send tanks to Ukraine

Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob has today reached an agreement with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz regarding the delivery of 28 Slovenian M55S tanks to Ukraine, where in exchange Slovenia will receive 40 German transport vehicles from Berlin.

Golob and Scholz agreed during a telephone conversation that Slovenia will acquire from Germany 35 8×8 military trucks and 8 giant 8×8 tanks.

Prime Minister Golob’s office announced that this agreement was reached as a “sign of solidarity with the Ukrainian people”, who are fighting against Russian aggression, while this exchange will further strengthen the cooperation between Slovenia and Germany.

Months ago, Slovenia and Germany discussed the possibility of Ljubljana donating M84 tanks to Ukraine, where in exchange Germany would receive modern tanks.

Until this agreement has not yet been reached, while the Slovenian and German leaders also discussed the energy crisis in the Western Balkans, where they supported the European perspective of the Western Balkan countries.
