Legendary tennis player Roger Federer has ended his rich tennis career. The Swiss has confirmed on social networks that next week he will play his last tournament.
Federer (41) has had many injury problems in recent years, which has resulted in his absence from many tournaments.
Behind him is a difficult recovery from the fourth knee injury, which is also the last of his career.
The Swiss decided he couldn’t do it anymore. It was possible to think that he would end his career in the previous months after he canceled several tournaments.
Now it has been announced, so it has been confirmed on the official website.
Federer will play the Laver Cup in London and it will be his farewell tournament.
The tournament will be played from September 23 to 25, when tennis fans will get to taste the magic of the great hero for the last time.
Federer published a letter to fans on his profile, in which he explained his decision to end his career.
“Today I want to share the news with you. As you all know, the past three years have brought me challenges from injuries to surgeries.
I worked hard to get back into competitive shape. However, I know my physical capacities and limits and the last one was a clear signal for me.
I am 41 years old and have played more than 1,500 games in my 24-year career. The Laver Cup next week in London will be my last ATP tournament.
“I will play tennis in the future, but not in the Grand Slams and the ATP tournament,” said Federer.
Thus ends the story of the tennis player who many consider to be the greatest of all time. It marks the departure of the multi-generational hero who won 103 ATP titles including 20 Grand Slam titles.
Despite the fact that he does not end his career as the man with the most Grand Slam titles in history, his elegance, grace and unprecedented style of tennis put him at the top.
