Peugeot introduced the e-208

Although it looks identical to its predecessor, the Peugeot e-208 still brings significant improvements for 2023.

After gaining a 6.5 percent increase in range last year, which equates to 22 kilometers, the electric supermini now comes with another significant upgrade.

At the heart of the Peugeot e-208 is a more powerful electric motor that delivers 156 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque. Power has increased by 20 horsepower, while torque remains the same as in the case of the previous version of the subcompact electric model. There’s no information on performance, but it’s probably slightly faster than its predecessor, which accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds.

In addition to the 15 percent increase in power, the e-208 also received a new battery that operates at 400 volts and its usable capacity is 48.1 kWh. The 10.5 percent increase in range means the small electric hatchback can travel 400 km on a single battery charge.

Peugeot proudly pointed out that the e-208 is the best-selling car in the European electric B-segment this year and the company expects the upgrades to keep demand high. It is believed that the average energy consumption per 100 kilometers driven is only 12 kWh. Compared to the original version that appeared in 2019, the e-208 now offers 17.65 percent more range and consumes 15 percent less energy thanks to two technical changes.

The expected 2023 E-208 carries over upgrades carried over from the previous model year, among them a heat pump that works in conjunction with a humidity sensor mounted on the top of the windshield. In this way, the use of energy for heating and air conditioning is regulated. Peugeot prepared 16-inch rims with low rolling resistance and adjusted the gearbox for a longer range outside the city.

The battery can be charged with a power of up to 100 KW, in which case it is charged from 20 to 80 percent in less than 25 minutes. The driver can charge the battery by activating the Brake mode, which improves energy recovery by releasing the gas pedal.

Upgrades to the e-208 will hit the market next year.
