The German Football Association announced this Wednesday that goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and midfielder Leon Goretzka have left the team gathering after testing positive for Covid-19 and were immediately isolated.
They will not play in the Nations League on Friday against Hungary at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig and on Monday at Wembley against England.
Neuer’s departure from the squad leaves room for starter Barcelona goalkeeper Marc ter Stegen, who was on the bench for many years.
Kevin Trapp now has to wait on the bench to get a chance in either game.
Hansi Flick has already invited Oliver Baumann, the 32-year-old Hoffenheim goalkeeper, to complete the goalkeeper list.
While to replace Goretzka’s absence, Wolfsburg’s Maximilian Arnold was invited.
