In August at Pebble Beach, Lamborghini presented the updated Urus in a more powerful Performante version, however, the real successor to the hugely popular Super SUV in its basic form is the new S version.
For the first time, the company from Sant’Agata Bolognese will sell two versions of the spiritual successor of the LM002 model.
It can be said that it serves as a subtle alternative to the Performante, as much as a Lamborghini can be.
The Urus S is powered by the same upgraded 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that develops 666bhp and 850Nm of torque, however, the Performante is 47kg lighter and therefore quicker.
Lamborghini says the Performante accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, while the Urus S takes 3.5 seconds. Top speed remains the same at 305 km/h. Urus S from 0 to 200 km/h reaches in 1.25 seconds, so it is not to be underestimated in the competition of high-performance SUVs.
Between the premiere of the Performante and the Model S, Ferrari unveiled its Purosangue SUV with a V12 engine. These are direct rivals, and the competition is also Aston Martin DBX and Bentley Bentayga Speed.
Lamborghini has included in the offer 22-inch matte titanium rims and a 23-inch bronze set. It is possible to choose a “bare” carbon roof, as well as matte black or glossy black finishes of the new exhaust system instead of brushed steel.
Standard equipment includes a stainless steel seat guard in matte black, as well as a carbon engine cover with matte black air intakes. Options are dark or matte or glossy details. The two-tone interior features new two-tone leather.
There’s no word yet on the hybrid version, but Lamborghini said it will electrify all of its models by 2024.
The Urus could get a plug-in hybrid engine based on the one used by the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
