King Charles III leaves Balmoral Castle, returns to London

King Charles III has left Balmoral Castle.

The Commonwealth king is expected to return to London with his wife, Camilla, now Queen Consort, where he will then meet with the newly elected Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Liz Truss.

The moment the Queen died, the throne passed immediately and unceremoniously to the heir, Charles, the former Prince of Wales.

But there are a number of practical – and traditional – steps he must go through to be crowned King.

Queen Elizabeth II died on Thursday at the age of 96. She had led the country for 70 years.
