Inter suffered defeat in the first match of the Champions League, where they were defeated by Bayern Munich with a clean score of 0-2.
It was a match dominated by the Bavarians who were better than the home team all the time.
After the match, the coach of Inter, Simone Inzaghi, said that against teams like Bayern, you must play a perfect match to avoid defeat.
“We played the first 20 minutes where we entered the field very contracted. We faced an extraordinary, intense team, one of the strongest in Europe. In the first goal, we had to do better as a team, then we improved and created many situations, making a technical mistake in the last pass”.
“In the second half we put pressure, we had chances with Dzeko and Correa. Against such teams, you have to play the perfect match, which did not happen, but we faced a very high-quality opponent”, said Inzaghi.
He also spoke about the positioning of the defenders who were passive in the conceded goals.
“I agree with what you say that the defenders were passive in the goals. I have reviewed the goal, we had to cover the ball as we knew they were making such moves. Then Sane scored a great goal but of course we had to do better as we know that against certain teams, to secure a match you have to be perfect”, continued Inzaghi.
Andre Onana was in goal from the first minute, but it seems that coach Inzaghi is not convinced by the Cameroonian goalkeeper.
Despite Onana making some excellent saves, Inzaghi has surprised by saying the Cameroonian hasn’t done much.
“I don’t remember big expectations from Onana, I think they made the same expectations with Neuer”.
“But we had to be better at reading the game because they have players who can create situations at any moment. We shouldn’t have conceded the second goal in the 67th minute as the game was open”, declared Inzagi.
The Neroazzur will play their next match in Group C on a trip to Viktoria Plzen.
