Six people have been arrested by London police after members of the climate movement “Extinction Rebellion” attacked the British parliament.
Four protesters who were in the Chamber were picked up and arrested, the Speaker’s chair was not damaged.
The other two were also arrested, one who climbed the scaffolding in front of the parliament and the other who was on the sidewalk inside the parliament premises.
Before that, the climate group published a photo of five people holding placards in the hall with the inscriptions “Let the people decide” and “Civil Assembly – now”.
The group also hung a large banner with the same messages on scaffolding erected around the parliament building due to the works, and protesters also padlocked the gate outside the building.
The British Parliament was not in session for a while. Some parts of the parliament are usually open to the public, but access to the meeting rooms is prohibited.
