Denmark reports a gas leak from Russia’s Nord Stream II

Danish authorities have reported a gas leak from the Russian Nord Stream II pipeline in the Baltic Sea.

The Danish Maritime Authority has banned all vessel movements within 10 kilometers of the leak site, warning that the incident is “dangerous to navigation”.

“In cooperation with the coastal services, it has been determined that the leak occurred in the southeast of Bornholm.

The agencies have set up a security zone of 10 kilometers as a security measure”, the authorities announced.

The pressure of the pipeline dropped from 105 bar to 7 bar, the operator points out.

The pipeline, which is owned by Russia, runs from St. Petersburg under the Baltic Sea to Germany.

The Baltic Pipeline, a pipeline carrying Norwegian gas to Poland with an annual capacity of 10 billion cubic meters per day, is expected to be inaugurated later on September 27.
