Apple has announced that it will launch its latest operating system, iOS 16, on September 12.
The company first announced the free update last June during the 2022 Worldwide Developers Conference and released a public beta in July. (Unfortunately, the launch of iPadOS 16 has been delayed despite the fact that, traditionally, the two operating systems are released together.)
As a result, the abundance of features that will come with the update will not be too surprising.
The features start with a number of improvements to the lock screen, including the ability to add widgets and customize the look and a new way to display notifications.
You’ll be able to edit and recall sent messages (with some limitations), use the new iCloud Shared Photo Library to share photos with your family.
The new operating system is timed to launch alongside Apple’s latest iPhones, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, which will be available for pre-order on September 9 and available in stores September 16.
Meanwhile, if you weren’t ready to install an iOS 16 beta on your existing iPhone — that’s because, after all, betas are officially unfinished — you won’t have to wait long to take advantage of these improvements.
