The footage showing Russian trucks inside the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is authentic.
The video appeared on social media on Tuesday, but it is not known when it was taken. However, it clearly proves that the Russian military is present at the nuclear plant itself, even though they claim they are not.
The video, which was recorded in one of six turbine rooms located on the western side of the nuclear power plant, shows what appear to be typical Russian military trucks.
At least five vehicles can be seen, at least one of which has a “Z” marking, which has been a symbol of Russia’s occupation of Ukraine for months.
Russia, which has rejected a US proposal to demilitarize the nuclear power plant and its surrounding area, claims that its military is not stationed at the plant complex itself and that the only military vehicles and military personnel in Zaporizhzhia are those responsible for security.
In turn, Kiev has repeatedly accused Moscow of using Europe’s largest nuclear power plant to store weapons. Satellite images collected by the private company Planet Labs show that Russian military vehicles have not been seen at the NE Zaporizhzhia complex since July 24, but Kiev claims that the Russian military has driven them into the plant’s buildings.
According to them, 14 units of heavy military equipment are located in the first engine block and six vehicles in the second machine.
Otherwise, the Ukrainian military intelligence service (SBU) warned today that Russian forces may be preparing to “organize a provocation” at the nuclear power plant, which is under their control.
