The number of people who crossed the English Channel from France to Britain reached a new record. Exactly, 1295 people have crossed this channel, announced the British government.
The previous record was recorded on November 11, 2021, when there were 1,185 immigrants. Since the start of the year, around 22,670 people have crossed the English Channel, compared to 12,500 in the same period last year.
The arrival of large numbers of migrants is a major political problem for British authorities, who have promised better border control after the country leaves the EU.
Tensions between London and Paris are rising and the British government accuses France of not doing enough to prevent the crossings.
