Boris Johnson is back in Ukraine as the war-torn country marks Independence Day. The British Prime Minister was photographed in Kiev with the President, Volodymyr Zelensky.

“What happens in Ukraine matters to all of us,” Johnson tweeted.

“That’s why I’m in Kiev today. That is why the UK will continue to stand with our Ukrainian friends. I believe that Ukraine can and will win this war”, he asserted.

Johnson announced another package of support for Ukraine, including drone surveillance and missile systems.

The package, worth 64 million euros, also includes 2,000 state-of-the-art drones, anti-tank munitions. It also includes 850 hand-launched Black Hornet micro-drones, which can be used to provide live feeds and still images to troops.

Johnson urged the international community to stay the course in Ukraine, “for the past six months, the United Kingdom has stood shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine, supporting this sovereign country to defend itself against this barbaric and illegal invader. Today’s support package will give the brave and resilient Armed Forces of Ukraine another capability boost, allowing them to continue to push back Russian forces and fight for their freedom.”

In the last visit to the country before leaving Downing Street, the prime minister also received Ukraine’s highest award that can be given to foreign nationals, the Order of Freedom, for the UK’s steadfast support for the freedom of Ukraine.

Johnson arrived in Kiev after enjoying his second summer break in the summer. Last week he was seen in Greece, having already visited Slovenia.
