Apple has discovered serious security vulnerabilities for iPhones, iPads and Macs that could potentially allow hackers to gain complete control over the devices.
Apple said that “they are aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited.”
Security experts have advised users to immediately update affected devices – iPhone 6s and later models, new iPads, and Mac computers powered by macOS Monterey.
Some iPod models are also affected by this attack. In a security update on its website, Apple said one of its flaws meant a malicious app “could execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges”, which it described as full access to the device.
Apple did not provide any additional information on how many users were affected by this security vulnerability.
The warning to users comes ahead of the traditional launch in September of the latest iPhone, which this year is expected to be titled iPhone 14.
