Megyn Kelly criticized Dr. Anthony Fauci during her podcast Wednesday, using an offensive four-letter sentence while asking him to appear before Congress if Republicans take control of the House of Representatives.
“F-k you, Dr. Fauci,” the former Fox News star said during her most recent broadcast of “The Megyn Kelly Show.”
Kelly took issue with Fauci’s comments, saying he would “certainly consider” appearing before lawmakers if subpoenaed.
The Republican Party is expected to regain the majority in the House of Representatives after the midterm elections this fall.
GOP lawmakers have vowed to demand that Fauci, 81, who plans to retire next December as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases after nearly four decades, appears to testify about the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. .
Kelly said Republicans should give Fauci the “Steve Bannon treatment” if the epidemiologist refuses to comply with a call.
“He looks like he’s been invited to one of our houses for afternoon tea,” Kelly said on the podcast. “”I will consider it. I will consider it,” she said, paraphrasing Fauci ironically. Then she continued and said “F-k you, Dr. Fauci!”
“You get a subpoena from Congress, show up or get the Steve Bannon treatment,” she added.
Bannon, a former aide to then-US President Donald Trump, was convicted last month of two counts of contempt of Congress by refusing to appear before the House Select Committee investigating the January 6, 2021 riots in the US Congress.
He faces a maximum sentence of two years in prison. Sentencing is set for October 21.
Republicans have attacked Fauci and other public health officials for pandemic-era lockdown measures and other mitigation tactics that many believe were heavy-handed and excessive, including mandatory face masks, mandatory vaccinations and lengthy lockdowns. of schools.
