The killer of the Egyptian student will be executed live.
A murderer’s execution could be televised live after he was found guilty of murdering a woman who rejected him.Mohamed Adel, 21, was sentenced to death after he was found to have brutally stabbed his classmate to death in Egypt.
The court called on Egyptian lawmakers in the country’s parliament to broadcast the execution in the hope it would deter people from committing a similar crime.”Broadcasting, even the part of the beginning of the procedure, could achieve the goal of prevention, which was not achieved by broadcasting the sentence itself”, he writes in the reasoning of the court.
On June 20, Adel killed Naira Ashraf as she got off a bus outside Mansoura University. The nature of the crime was particularly grim as the convicted murderer was seen repeatedly hitting Naira on the head and jumping on her and he also stabbed her repeatedly.
Angry onlookers grabbed Adele and he was arrested as Naira lay in bed with little chance of survival after having her throat slit.Adel pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to death, a decision that had to go to the ‘grand mufti’ of Egypt, Dr. Shawki Allam.
Judge Bahaeldin Al Merri said in his sentencing, “The Court declares that it could not find the capacity for mercy for someone who was not himself merciful. Perhaps your death will do more good as an example to others than allowing you to live.”
