The first ship with grain could leave on Monday from Ukraine.
The possibility that the first grain export ship will leave Ukrainian ports on Monday is high, a spokesman for President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Sunday.
“If all (the details) are completed by tomorrow, it seems very likely that the first ship will leave the port tomorrow… We will see ships leaving the ports no later than the next day,” Kalin said.
Speaking in an interview, Ibrahim Kalin said that the joint coordination center in Istanbul is likely to complete the final work on the export routes very soon.
Russia and Ukraine are the main global suppliers of wheat, and the UN-brokered deal they signed in Istanbul last week aims to ease the food crisis and reduce global prices of the grain that have risen since the Russian invasion.
The agreement aims to allow safe passage for grain shipments in and out of Chornomorsk, Odesa and the port of Pivdennyis. Moscow blames Ukraine for stalling shipments by undermining port waters.
