Porsche sold 145,860 cars in the first half of the year.

Detlev von Platen, member of the Board of Directors for Sales and Marketing of Porsche AG said that the first half of this year was characterized by external and meaningless influences but that together with their dealers they managed well.

“In addition to the recent restrictions caused by the new outbreak of the pandemic in China and other markets, we also had ongoing obstacles with the supply chain and related logistical challenges. At the same time, the strong desire for our brand and the popularity of our products remain unbroken,” stated von Platen.

“We in the company assume that the second half of the year will have dynamic developments. As in previous years, we are optimistic about the future, and we are determined to make the most of the remaining months of this year.”

The situation in the world regions in the first half of this year was complex. The picture in terms of shipment figures is correspondingly homogeneous. In Europe, the number of cars sold rose to 45,087. This corresponds to an increase of seven percent – regardless of the comparison period. The same applies to the domestic market in Germany, 13,785 cars sold in the first half of the year, which means an increase of five percent.

In China, Porsche managed to deliver cars to 40,681 of their customers, despite the shutdown for several months due to COVID in many cities in the country. The decline in sales there was 16 percent in the first half of the year. In view of the overall decline in the premium/luxury segment in China of 23 percent in the period from January to May, the sports car manufacturer achieved a great result, which remains as the sole market leader.

A total of 62,245 vehicles were delivered to customers in the Asia-Pacific, Africa and Middle East markets. In the US, Porsche faced delivery and transit problems. Despite this, 32,529 cars were delivered to their customers. This is much better compared to last year.
