Palestinians deserve to have their own independent state.
US President Joe Biden is supporting the creation of an independent state of Palestine and Israel.
The head of the American state has supported the creation of two states based on the pre-1967 borders during the meeting with the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas.
He did not respond positively to Abbas’ request to unilaterally recognize a Palestinian state, but spoke of a “future Palestinian state” and a state with continuous territory.
“Two states along the 1967 borders with mutually agreed exchanges remains the best way to achieve equal measures of security, prosperity, freedom and democracy for Palestinians and Israelis,” the 79-year-old said.
“The Palestinian people deserve a state of their own that is independent, sovereign, viable and permanent,” Biden said, adding that “Jerusalem must be a city of all people. Its holy sites maintain their status quo, with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan continuing to serve as custodian.”
Otherwise, Israel and Palestine have been in conflict for decades, where the Israelis are criticized for occupying the Palestinian territories.
