Aptera the car with three wheels and interesting shape.
A year and a half ago, San Diego-based Aptera Motors began taking orders for the Aptera.
It’s about her three-wheeled solar car that looks like a cross between the Batmobile, DeLorean and a personal-sized airplane.
The company quickly sold out multiple models of the car and ended up pushing back the delivery date for many customers.
But in a webinar they held last month, the company announced the purchase of a factory to increase production of their vehicles, which could mean that a new era of emission-free transportation is (slowly) beginning.
Thus, Aptera aims to produce 10,000 cars by the end of this year, eventually increasing production to 600,000 cars a year.
At the moment, the company says it has over 25,000 orders (some of which may fail since placing an order only requires a $100 deposit); but they are betting that demand will increase as drivers of small cars, whether gas or electric, can choose to go solar.
One of the most significant details about Aptera’s vehicles is that the model with a “range” of 400 kilometers has a relatively low price of $25,900. Meanwhile, the 1,600-mile range model costs $46,900, and additional customization options can bring the total up to $50,700.
