A six-year-old girl and her parents are shot in Iowa.
A six-year-old girl and her parents were shot dead while camping in the US state of Iowa, police said.
The bodies of Sarah and Tyler Schmidt, both 42, and the body of their daughter were found in their tent at Maquoketa Caves State Park.
The couple’s nine-year-old son survived the attack, a neighbor said.
The police believe that the suspected attacker, a 23-year-old man, turned the gun on himself. His body was also found in the park.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
There were no reports of a previous altercation between the suspect and the victims.
The suspected gunman is reported to be Anthony Orlando Sherwin, who was also camping in the area.
