American threatens the officers with an excavator.
A man from Vermont, USA, is facing charges after police say he tried to attack them with an excavator while they were arresting his son.
The incident took place last Tuesday in Hardwick, while state police were arresting 24-year-old Brandon Tallman on charges of theft and assault from a previous incident.
Police say the 24-year-old’s parents were at home and tried to stop the arrest.
The video shows the suspect’s mother, Amy Tallman, 48, clashing with officers Skylar Velazquez and Gabe Schrauf.
There then police say the man’s father, Wayne Tallman, 52, boarded the cab of an excavator that was parked on the street.
While officers were focusing on Brandon Tallman and his mother on the ground, the video shows the man’s father lowering the excavator bucket and shaking it towards the police.
“Wayne continued to use an excavator and recklessly maneuvered the bucket near the officers in an attempt to prevent them from arresting the suspect,” the police report said.
The video shows Schauf pointing his gun at the man, but does not fire.
All three family members were taken into custody.
Wayne Tallman now faces charges including reckless endangerment and assault on a protected official.
Amy Tallman has been charged with obstructing an officer.
