18 dead in the northern state of India.
At least 18 people were confirmed dead after a bus with 29 passengers on board crashed into a ravine in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand on Sunday, police officials said.
“18 people have died, four have been injured and eight are still missing,” Arpan Yaduvanshi, from Uttarkashi police.
Another police official at state headquarters said the accident happened near Damta in Uttarkashi district.
“The bus was on its way to Yamunotri with 29 passengers on board from the Panna district to Madhya Pradesh,” the official said.
Interior Minister Amit Shah said he had spoken to the state prime minister about the incident and said rescue operations were ongoing and the injured were taken to the nearest hospital.
