European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has said that the oil embargo on Russia announced earlier this week would not be easy, but that the EU could not “transfer money to Russia in the long run. given its values ”.

EU representatives will meet again on Friday – in talks that are also expected to continue over the weekend – to negotiate a proposed package of EU sanctions against Russia.

She said the EU country was “on the side of Ukraine” and “We want Ukraine to win this war.”
Asked what the criteria would be to decide whether Ukraine had won the war, she said it was up to Ukraine to decide how to negotiate with Russia to reach a ceasefire.
