The EU promises an 500 million euros aid to Ukraine

The EU promises an 500 million euros aid to Ukraine.

European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has pledged an additional 500 million euros in military support to Ukraine.

He believes an agreement will be reached in the coming days on an embargo on Russian oil.

The Spaniard stated that military support would be for heavy weapons such as tanks and artillery while the latest aid means that the European community has so far allocated two billion euros to the Ukrainian state.

“It will be more pressure on Russia with economic sanctions and the continuation of Russia’s international isolation,” he said.

Regarding the possible oil embargo, he said: “I am sure we will have an agreement. We need it and we will have it.

We need to get rid of dependence on Russian oil. “If there is no agreement at the ambassadorial level, then on Monday the ministers, when they meet, must give the political impetus.”

Otherwise, Hungary is the main EU country that is opposing the embargo on Russian oil as it is highly dependent on it and mainly imports it from Russia.
