Scholz: Putin will negotiate when he can not break Ukraine’s defense.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has estimated that Vladimir Putin has already failed to achieve his strategic goals in Ukraine.
He said the costs to the Russian regime have been huge. However, he warned that “Putin will seriously negotiate peace only if he realizes that he can not break Ukraine’s defense.”
Otherwise, Germany’s response to the occupation of Ukraine has been in the spotlight due to the country’s great dependence on Russian gas.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister of Slovakia has warned that his country could be next if Russia successfully invades Ukraine.
Eduard Heger was quoted as saying to the media that “first of all it is important that they (Ukraine) are our neighbors and we are fully with them, so that they can win and preserve their democracy and sovereignty.”
“Secondly, they are our neighbors and it is very important that our neighbors are stable and prosperous.”
“And third, we are next. “If they fail, we know Russia will go further, so this is really vital and we need to understand that, especially in the European Union.”
