Russia stops sending electricity to Finland

Russia stops sending electricity to Finland.

Russia has begun retaliating against the Finnish state following warnings that it will join NATO.

Fingrid, Finland’s national grid operator, has confirmed that it is no longer supplied with electricity by the Russians.

Reima Paivinen, a senior vice president at Fingrid, said they were “confident they would not have major problems”, as they are expected to be supplied by Sweden.

We note that electricity from Russia accounts for about 10 percent of Finland’s total consumption.

The outage is supposed to have happened because the electricity bills paid were not paid in Russian rubles, as requested by Moscow.

It also came after Finland confirmed it would apply to join the world’s strongest military alliance.

Otherwise, Russia has warned that it will also punish Sweden, in case Sweden starts the application procedures for NATO.
