Liz Truss: Efforts to ‘calm down’ Putin are dangerous.
British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said efforts to “calm down” Vladimir Putin were dangerous, in a press release ahead of her trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina on Thursday.
“Russian aggression should not be ‘let go’. He must face with force. We must be committed to securing Ukraine’s victory with military assistance and sanctions.
“Now we can no longer remove the foot from the gas pedal,” she was quoted as saying.
It is reported that Truss will address the armed forces in Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to urge the UK’s western allies to ensure that President Putin loses in Ukraine.
On Wednesday, the European Union, the United States and the United Kingdom announced the establishment of a Crime Advisory Group in Ukraine.
The group will assist the War Crimes Units of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine in investigating and prosecuting aggression-related crimes.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that Russian forces have attacked more than 40 cities in the eastern Donbas and Luhansk regions, the Ukrainian military said.
“The occupiers fired on more than 40 cities in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, destroying or damaging 47 civilian sites, including 38 houses and a school. “As a result of this bombing, five civilians died and 12 were wounded,” said the Ukrainian armed forces.
Since last month, Russia has put its focus on taking full control of the Donbas region.
Thus, Russia has sent thousands of troops to the region, attacking from three sides, in an attempt to encircle the Ukrainian forces stationed in the cities of Severodonetsk and Lysychansk.
Their fall would leave the entire Luhansk province under Russian control, a key goal of the Kremlin war.
