Austria does not intend to join NATO.
Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer reiterated today that his country is not a member of any military alliance and does not intend to join NATO.
Speaking after the meeting in Prague with his counterpart Petr Fiala, Chancellor Nehammer said that the history of Austria is different from that of Finland and Sweden, and that this country aims to maintain its military neutrality.
However, he stressed that Austria as a member of the European Union has shown solidarity with Ukraine, allowing arms shipments to Kiev to be carried out and has supported sanctions against Russia.
Meanwhile, Czech Prime Minister Fiala said that his Austrian counterpart has supported the idea of expanding the capacity of the Transalpine Oil Pipeline (TAL), which includes refineries in Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic.
