Apple is looking to increase production outside of China.
Apple is looking to increase its production outside China, citing Beijing’s zero policy on COVID as one of the main reasons.
According to anonymous sources in the report, Apple is telling suppliers it wants to expand production elsewhere, including India and Southeast Asia.
Currently, as it is known, India and Vietnam produce only a small percentage of the company’s products.
Apple has relied on Chinese manufacturing for more than a decade, with analysts estimating that 90 percent of the company’s products are manufactured by contract manufacturers in China.
And that has made Apple’s success tangible to changes in COVID-19 policies adopted by the Chinese Communist Party.
