The ICC will join the investigating war crimes team.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) will join the team investigating war crimes allegations in Ukraine, the European Union’s criminal justice agency, Eurojust, said today.

Attorneys general from Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine signed an agreement on the international tribunal’s first participation in an investigative team, said International Crime Court prosecutor Karim Khan.

“With this agreement, the parties are sending a clear message that all efforts will be made to effectively gather evidence on key international crimes committed in Ukraine and bring those responsible to justice,” Eurojust said in a statement.

Last month, Khan opened an investigation into possible war crimes committed by Russian forces.

Ukraine, Lithuania, Poland sign agreement to set up team to facilitate information exchange, investigation into suspected war crimes and crimes against humanity.
