The EU offers Ukraine rapid membership.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has vowed to provide Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky with a quicker guide to becoming a member of the European Union.
Von der Leyen handed Zelensky a questionnaire which will be a starting point for the EU to decide on Kiev’s membership.
“It will not be as usual a matter of years to form this opinion, but I think it is a matter of weeks,” said Der Leyen.
Zelensky told reporters the questionnaire would be ready within a week.
The EU should monitor Russia’s efforts to circumvent sanctions and decide more stringently if necessary, she said at a joint news conference with the Ukrainian head of state.
“Russia will suffer because of the economic, financial and technological damage, while Ukraine is marching towards a European future, that is what I see,” Germany said.
Otherwise, Von Der Leyen visited the city of Bucha, where he saw closely the crimes of the Russians together with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Joseph Borrell.
