Sony is preparing a PS3 emulator for PS5?
The PlayStation 3 console compatibility with the latest systems has been on the PlayStation fan list for years and the PS5 can finally have the processing power to effectively mimic the PS3 Cell architecture.
Right now, Sony is offering backward PS3 compatibility via cloud streaming, but that may change soon.
According to journalist Jeff Grab, sources suggest that Sony is working on a solution for the original compatibility for PS3 games on the PS5 keyboard. This would be solved with the help of an emulator.
Developing an emulator is not an easy task, so it may take some time for that to happen, according to Grab. If the emulator is really in preparation, it could significantly increase the cost-effectiveness of new PlayStation Plus subscriptions.
Currently, only PS1, PS2 and PSP games can be downloaded through this service, while PS3 titles can only be streamed. Activation of the original game can attract a large number of players who want to relive memorable moments from some classics from the keyboard of the older generation.
