Kuleba: War criminals have no place in the UN
Russia was suspended by the Human Rights Council during today’s UN session in New York.
Ninety-three countries voted in favor of the suspension while 24 were against and 58 abstained.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba responded to the news of the expulsion of the Russian state.
“War criminals have no place in UN bodies aimed at protecting human rights. “I thank all the member states that supported the relevant UN resolution and chose the right side of history,” he wrote on Twitter.
Among the countries that supported the suspension were the US, EU countries, Great Britain, Albania. The surprise was also the pro vote of Serbia.
Otherwise, China, Syria and Belarus were among those who voted against the motion. India, Egypt and South Africa were among the nations that abstained.
