iPhone saved the life of the Briton who fell in a pit.
A British man who was snowboarding should thank his iPhone that saved his life after activating his safety function when he crashed into a pit in the Alps.
According to foreign media, Tim Blakey, 41, was snowboarding alone off the track when he suddenly fell into a hidden 4.5-meter crack.
He was 3,048 meters above sea level and would likely have fallen further and could have died if he had not hit a snow bridge placed below the crevice.
Thankfully, he was able to pull out his iPhone – which was almost battery-free – and activate the emergency safety feature by clicking the power button five times.
This meant that the device contacted the local emergency services and gave its exact location.
According to Blakey, his phone was only 3 percent battery when it fell into the snow pit.
“I had a battery booster in my backpack and I had to move very, very carefully to remove it and take it out,” he said.
