Hackers carry out cyber attacks against Ukraine.
A group of Russian government-linked hacker groups have carried out hundreds of cyber-attacks against Ukraine since the beginning of the aggression by Moscow, the US tech giant Microsoft said in a report on Wednesday.
The report added that in “hybrid” war tactics, Russia often matches cyber-attacks with military attacks on the battlefield.
“Starting shortly before the invasion, we have seen at least six Russian-linked nation-specific actors launch more than 237 operations against Ukraine,” said Microsoft, which is working with Ukrainian cybersecurity experts and private companies. to combat such attacks.
The report says cyber warfare includes “ongoing destructive attacks that threaten civilian well-being.”
In the first week of the invasion, the report said Russian hackers attacked a major Ukrainian media broadcaster on “the same day that the Russian military announced its intention to destroy Ukraine ‘disinformation’ targets and launched a missile strike against a tower. television in Kiev ”.
The aim of such coordinated attacks was reportedly to “disrupt or degrade the functions of the Ukrainian government and military and undermine public confidence in the same institutions.”
Microsoft said it had tracked nearly 40 devastating cyber-attacks targeting hundreds of systems, a third of which had directly targeted Ukrainian government organizations at all levels, from national to local, with 40 percent following critical infrastructure.
Some of these were so-called “deletion attacks”, which delete vital data in a hacked computer system.
