Apple has begun publishing “home repair” manuals

Apple has begun publishing “home repair” manuals.

Apple has continued with its plans to start publishing repair manuals for some of its products in addition to selling parts and tools online.

The goal, the company said, is to allow iPhone owners an alternative way to repair their devices.

The tech giant’s new app, called Self Service Repair, is launching for US customers with Apple’s new iPhone 13, iPhone 12 and iPhone SE line of smartphones.

Apple said it designed the program to give capable people access to the same parts, tools and instructions it gives to its certified technicians and partner repair shops, in the hope that it will make it easier for people to repair equipment instead of using a new one.

Apple’s do-it-yourself program comes at a time when it and the tech industry are under pressure to allow people to choose to repair their home appliances at lower costs.
