1,480 civilians killed and 2,195 injured in Ukraine.
At least 1,480 civilians have been killed and at least 2,195 wounded in Ukraine since the start of the Russian occupation on February 24, said Rosemary DiCarlo, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs and Peacebuilding.
Citing figures updated by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, DiCarlo said the OHCHR believes the current figures for civilian casualties are “significantly higher”.
She noted that the number of Ukrainian civilians killed has “more than doubled” since she last informed the Security Council on March 17.
The UN is also “seriously concerned” about “arbitrary arrests and enforced disappearances of people who have been vocal against the Russian occupation,” DiCarlo said.
Otherwise, the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the UN for the first time, where he counted the crimes of the Russians, especially in Bucha.
