Zelensky: Peace talks “have nothing concrete”.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has given an update on peace talks between Kiev and Moscow.

He said that the talks are continuing, but “at the moment there are only words, nothing concrete”.

Zelensky added that Ukrainian troops were preparing for new bombings by Russia in the eastern Donbas region.

Earlier, Ukraine’s peace negotiator said he was “optimistic” after yesterday’s peace talks with Russia in Istanbul.

Ukraine proposed a plan that would not see foreign military bases on its territory, as well as an end to its military alliance ambitions.

Mykhailo Podolyak added that when Russia withdraws its troops to its February 23 positions (i.e. a complete withdrawal of its troops), it will hold a referendum on any peace agreement with its neighbor.
