VinFast will build a electric vehicle plant in the US.
Vietnamese carmaker VinFast has stated that it has signed a preliminary agreement to initially invest $ 2 billion to build a plant in North Carolina to produce electric buses, sports vehicles (SUVs) along with batteries for EV cars.
According to foreign media, the unit of Vietnam’s largest conglomerate, Vingroup, said it plans to have a total investment of $ 4 billion in its first factory complex in the US.
Construction should begin this year once the company receives the necessary permits and is expected to be completed by July 2024. The initial capacity of the plant will be 150,000 units per year.
“With a manufacturing facility precisely in the US market, VinFast can stabilize prices and shorten product delivery times, making our electric cars more accessible to customers,” said Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy, vice president of Vinggroup and CEO of VinFast Global.
