Ukrainians regain control of the town of Trostyanets.

Ukrainian forces have regained control of the town of Trostyanets near Sumy in eastern Ukraine, and are working to repel Russian forces from Kherson in the south of the country, Pentagon officials have said.

Speaking to reporters, US officials said Russian forces had made no “advance” towards Kiev and were 55 kilometers from the Ukrainian capital.

However, it remains unknown to this official why Russian forces now prioritize military operations in the eastern Donbas region.

According to the Pentagon, this may be an attempt to gain a “vacuum” from the negotiations – or the Russians are reconsidering their intentions.

The war continues in some parts of Ukraine where both sides are facing each other day and night.

It has recently been reported that Kiev is calmer than at the beginning of the war.
