Two Huawei executives resign.
The two remaining Britons on Huawei UK’s board of directors have resigned over the company’s stance on the conflict in Ukraine.
Sir Andrew Cahn and Sir Ken Olisa felt that the firm’s failure to quickly condemn Russian aggression had made their positions unstable.
Asked if Huawei would continue to do business with Russia, the company said: “We are not commenting further.”
Both directors felt that Huawei should have quickly condemned Russia’s aggression on Ukraine.
The two had urged Huawei to criticize Russian President Vladimir Putin’s administration from its headquarters in Shenzen, but the company had refused.
It is believed that both felt that, although this was a complex situation for the company, the firm’s stance was contrary to their expectations as board directors in the UK.
