Tesla driver is billed $ 600,000 for a refill.
A Tesla owner in China was surprised by a $ 600,000 bill after a stop at a Supercharger station.
According to foreign media, the vehicle manufacturer says it was a mistake.
For years, Tesla did not bill its customers to charge cars at Supercharger stations.
It was part of the owner’s experience and included in the price of the vehicles.
This has changed in recent years as Tesla switched to a paid model to accelerate the deployment of Supercharger stations worldwide.
An owner of a Tesla Model 3 in China had a very bad surprise after being billed the amount of 3,846,306 yuan, the equivalent of over 600 thousand dollars, after a relatively short session at a Supercharger station.
A network user reported that when they were driving a Tesla Model 3, they charged for 20 minutes on and later on the vehicle was abruptly stopped and received an application request to pay a supercharging fee of 3,846,306 yuan.
Tesla Customer Service said there was an error in the background system of some vehicles and technicians are repairing it.
It remains unclear what the defect was.
