Stoltenberg: Peace should not be taken for granted.
NATO Secretary Jens Stoltenberg spoke at a press conference in Berlin with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Stoltenberg told reporters that the war of Russian President Vladimir Putin in Ukraine has “shaken” peace and shocked the world.
He even recalled the Ukrainian soldiers who lost their lives in the fighting – vowing to continue to support Ukrainian soldiers in defending themselves.
He even praised Germany for its humanitarian and military support to Ukraine, stressing that NATO has a responsibility to prevent the war from escalating – warning members of the security bloc “that peace and security should not be taken for granted.”
“Last night, the defense ministers began to consider the possibility of strengthening our defense in the long run. This will require a large increase in investment “, added Stoltenberg.
German Chancellor Scholz, on the other hand, said that Germany has increased funding for its armed forces – in order to ensure that “NATO has the capacity to fulfill its tasks and mandate.”
