Slack has begun shutting down profiles in Russia.
Some organizations in Russia were left without the services of the Slack application after their profiles were closed.
The Slack app is owned by Salesforce, which began shutting down user profiles from Russia, this is the result of sanctions imposed on the country over its occupation of Ukraine.
Profiles are mostly extinguished by organizations directly affected by sanctions.
Slack serves as the main form of communication for companies, it can also be used for file sharing within organizations, so it contains mostly a lot of important data.
Organizations that have suddenly lost access to profiles may be left without a chance to retrieve their data if they have not previously prepared for the possibility of revoking access to Slack.
Salesforce announced earlier this month that it was leaving business in Russia. It is said that Slack has a small number of users in this country and that disconnection with them has already begun.
“Slack must take action to comply with sanctions in the United States and other countries where there are operations, and these include closing profiles without prior notice, as required by law. “We are in contact with clients who are subject to sanctions when it comes to their status and in the manner permitted by law,” said Slack.
Slack does not delete the data of Russian clients, but sanctioned organizations will not be able to access them until the sanctions are lifted.
