Erdogan invited Zelensky and Putin to a meeting.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday.
Erdogan and Putin discussed the latest developments in the war between Russia and Ukraine and the humanitarian situation on the ground.
The Turkish leader noted that Turkey continues its sincere approach, which it has shown from the beginning, to ensure peace between Russia and Ukraine.
“If a permanent ceasefire is declared in Ukraine, the parties will have the opportunity to reach a long-term solution to the dispute,” said the head of the Turkish state.
Agreeing on some issues may require holding a meeting at the leaders’ level, Erdogan noted, and reiterated the proposal for a meeting of the two leaders in Istanbul or Ankara.
“The war will not benefit either side and diplomacy should be given a chance,” Erdogan said, noting the importance of using humanitarian corridors effectively in Ukraine.
