Britain will judge Putin on his actions not his words.
A spokesman for British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Britain wanted Russian troops to withdraw completely from Ukraine – vowing to judge Russia based on its actions, not its words.
Asked if Russia’s promise to reduce military intensity around Kiev and in northern Ukraine was encouraging, the British prime minister’s spokesman said that “they will judge Putin and his regime based on their actions and not on words.”
However, he acknowledged that fighting was ongoing and that there had been heavy bombardment in Mariupol and the surrounding area.
“We do not want to see anything less than the complete withdrawal of Russian forces from the territory of Ukraine,” he added.
On the other hand, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said today that the United States has not seen “any sign of seriousness” from Russia regarding a peace agreement since the invasion of Ukraine began.
